MUMBAI, August 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Rotary District 3141 and IIT Bombay Tech Fest team have initiated a diabetes awareness initiative called CURED.  As part of the initiative Rotary 3141 along with IIT Bombay will be conducting check up camps for diabetes.

100 free diabetes check up camps will be placed at various places in Mumbai on 18th and 25th of September. 50 free Checkups camps will also be placed in 17 districts of Maharashtra along with 100 more free camps in 8 other states in India ( dates to be announced).

People can have a free diabetes checkup and a free consultation with the doctors at every camp. The Guiness Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records will monitor the largest ever awareness drive for diabetes across the world.

The campaign has already kicked off with the conclave at IIT-B on 21st August with eminent panelists including:

– Prof. Soumyo Mukherji (Dean of Student Affairs, IIT Bombay)

– Mr. Gopal Mandhania (Rotary 3141 District Governor)

– Dr. Keiki Mehta (Padmashree Award winner for his work in health and medicine)

– Dr. Indumati Gopinathan (Noted pathologist)

– Mr. Arun Bhargava (Chief Project Director, Rotary 3141)

– Dr. Pradeep Gadge (Noted diabetologist)

– Captain Ravi Jaswani (Chief Coordinator – Project CURED)

Prof. Soumyo Mukherji stated, “IIT Bombay has been working on developing non- invasive techniques to check diabetes and advances are being made in the research for the same.” He also said that collaboration of doctors and engineers is of utmost importance to bring about changes in the treatment of diabetes.

Padmashree Dr Keiki Mehta, Dr Indumati Gopinath and Dr Pradeep Gadge educated the audience on the killer disease and also promised to be part of the team to work with IIT-B in bringing about technological advances in the medical field.

Rotary District Governor Gopal Mandhania reinforced the fact that Rotary will be conducting these camps as a start to bring about an awareness about diabetes and in the long run ensure that Rotary continues the support to find ways and means of fighting this killer disease.

Thousands of Rotartians across Mumbai will be volunteering for the camps in September supported by the Rotractors and IIT students. You can avail of the free check up by visiting any of the camps.
