Introduces bereavement, paternity and adoption leaves; ends probation period and sandwich leaves

National, 21 September 2017/Team Estrade//– Keeping in line with contemporary global HR practices, Magicbricks, India’s No. 1 property site, has introduced a slew of new pro-employee policies that are aimed at enhancing the work–life balance among the workforce. Age-old company policies like probation period, sandwich leaves have been done away with and three new category of leaves — bereavement, paternity and adoption – have been introduced

The paternity leave will allow new fathers to avail paid leaves for five days which will be over and above their annual leave balance. Paternity leaves are also applicable to adoptive fathers in case of adoption of a child below three months, while new adoptive mothers can take three months’ leave. Employees are also entitled to bereavement leave of up to five days in case of death of a direct family member (parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents or in-laws).

Anil Kumar, CHRO at Magicbricks.com said, “Our core strength is our human capital and we always believe in supporting our employees and their families. We have made positive changes in our HR policy to ensure that we are with our employees in every stage of their lives. An average employee spends more time in office during weekdays than at home. We have focused on increasing the happiness quotient at workplace, which is an extended home for all employees. Through this small effort we want to reassure to our employees that we care for them. We strive to create an environment where the company walks and works along with its employees.”

Anil added: “We feel that newborns need both the parents to be there for them. While paid leaves have been the privilege of the mothers for long, we felt new fathers should also get some leaves to be with the mother and the new born baby.”

The move is in line with an endeavor to make Magicbricks a great place to work and leverage the talent of the company’s workforce with positivity. With the new leaves in place, the total number of leaves an employee is now entitled to equals 45 in a year. The changes are effective since August 2017.

With the termination of probationary period policy, employees will now be joining in as permanent workforce thereby ensuring job security and the company’s commitment and trust towards their new hires right from day one. Also with the elimination of the sandwich leaves will give employees a chance to plan their leaves in a structured way.
