Online marketplace Amazon might just double its investments on seller infrastructure in India, seeing the big leap that arch rival Flipkart has taken after its latest fund-raising round .

This infrastructure includes warehouses, fulfilment services, service provider network, in-person support, and other services like seller cafes and instant registration to its marketplace.

As per Gopal Pillai, Amazon India Director and GM (seller services), these investments would help Amazon become a seller-friendly marketplace. Talking of the fulfilment centres in India, Amazon India has already added seven new centres in the past one year.

Pillai told ET that just like Amazon customers, Indian online sellers also try out multiple platforms before they settle down on one. Talking of the recent increase in seller commissions, Pillai said that it’s a normal process adopted from time to time.
