Lamborghini is rapidly expanding its reach in the country. In 2015, the Italian luxury sports car manufacturer sold 55 cars in India, which comprises of 40 per cent of the super sport luxury car market share. The Lamborghini range in the country comprises of two models — the Huracan and the Aventador. The Huracan is priced between Rs 3.0 and 3.9 crore, whereas the more powerful Aventador will set you back by Rs 3.7 to 4.8 crore (prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).

This increase in demand comes thanks to new entrepreneurs of a relatively younger age entering the scene and thriving in the country. Also, the demand for such cars, which was limited to big metro cities, is now expanding to smaller ones. Mr Sharad Agarwal, head of Lamborghini India, told PTI: “The super sports luxury car segment in India has been seeing a change in terms of customers. Earlier it used to be second or third generation entrepreneurs but today we see young first generation entrepreneurs also buying our cars.” He further added, “Besides, we also see demand coming not only from metros but from smaller cities like Agra, Bhubaneswar and Kochi. That shows the potential that Indian market has.”

Indian customers can buy the Lamborghini Aventador and Huracan from official dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The Italian manufacturer also shortlisted 10 Indian women who could be potential buyers, and took them on a 50km drive from Delhi to the Buddh International Circuit. The drive was lead by Sheetal Dugar, the first lady to own a Lamborghini Huracan in India.
