Skoda Karoq unveiled globally; Launch by end 2017

Czech car manufacturer, Skoda Auto, has unveiled the all-new Skoda Karoq compact SUV at an event in Stockholm, Sweden. The new Karoq compact SUV replaces the Skoda Yeti in the company’s product line-up. The all-new Karoq is based on Volkswagen Group’s modular MQB platform, which also underpins the Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta and the Skoda Kodiaq among others. The Karoq is largely similar in dimensions to the SEAT Ateca. The Skoda Karoq incorporates the company’s new design language that sports striking character and crystalline elements. Skoda Karoq is also speculated to be launched in India after the new Skoda Kodiaq full-size 7-seat SUV in India, which is scheduled to be launched in October 2017.
Skoda Karoq Interiors revealed

On the exterior design, the SUV comes with three-dimensional radiator grille with vertical double slats which creates the trapezoidal cross section that gives it a signature style effect to the grille. Moreover, the headlights on the SUV is inspired from rich traditions of Bohemian glass art as a unique lighting pattern is created by the crystalline cut of the full-LED headlights and the eight light strips. At the rear, the SUV also comes with LED technology on the tail light with rear lights, brake lights and fog lights. In terms of design, the LED tail lights forms ‘C’ shaped LED design which is narrow yet raked. Dimensionally, the compact SUV comes with length of 4382mm, width of 1841mm and height of 1605mm. The wheelbase, on the other hand, stands at 2638mm for the 4X2 variant whereas the 4X4 version will sport wheelbase of 2630mm. The bigger wheelbase of the new Skoda Karoq provides generously proportioned interior space and comfortable stance on the road.

n the inside, the SUV comes with new designed dashboard design which is divided into two sections – tall upper and narrow lower. Other highlights about the compact SUV are four large air vents sit vertically, and two flank the in-car monitor, ambient lightings, new infotainment system and much more. Moreover, the compact SUV comes with boot space of 521-litres which can be increased to 1630-litre by folding up the rear seats. Moreover, the SUV is also offered in combination with optional VarioFlex rear seats wherein the boot space will be variable for holding space in between 479-litre and 588-litre.

Under the hood, the Skoda Karoq compact SUV is offered with a total of 5 engine options, which include 3 petrol and 2 diesel engines. The 1.0 TSI turbo-charged three-cylinder petrol unit produces 113 BHP & 175 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission while the 1.5-litre TSI petrol unit produces 148 BHP & 250 Nm of power. Moreover, the 2.0-litre TDI diesel motor is available in two power tunes producing 148 BHP/340 NM and 189 BHP/400 Nm respectively, mated to 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG. An AWD (all-wheel drive) system is available in the higher power engine. There is also a new 1.6 TDI turbocharged diesel unit that produces 113 BHP of power and 250 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG transmission.  The Karoq also gets electronic parking brake as part of standard equipment on the SUV.
