The newly launched VLT Drive with enclosure size E, gives 73% reduction in space, enhanced energy efficiency and increased functionality

Hyderabad, India, 1 September 2017/Team Estrade//– Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd. has launched its NextGen High Power Automation Drives at the ‘16th Energy Efficiency Summit’ , on 31st August 2017, in the presence of Pradeep Perera, Energy Head – India, South Asia Department, Asian Development Bank and KN Rao, Director – Environment & Energy Conservation Cell, ACC Ltd. in Hyderabad today.

The newly launched VLT drive has been reduced in size by 73%, which in turn reduces space constraints in the cabinet or control room which reduces capex on floor space and air-conditioning cost. The high-power density of the product is achieved by the maximum use of silicon capacity, using cutting edge technology in thermal management. Its efficient designing allows for greater power sizes to be integrated in a single drive. With its built-in options such as fuses, mains shield, brake chopper, RFI Filter, USB through door and heat sink access panel, the drive eliminates the need for an external cabinet when only the basic options are needed, thereby saving space and equipment cost.

Commenting on the launch, Palanisamy PL, Director – Sales, Marketing and Services at Danfoss Drives said, “In the current scenario where India is facing acute shortage of energy, our next-generation variable frequency drive can easily save between 18-20% of the energy input. This can help in reducing the carbon footprint of the industries which proves to be beneficial to both the customer as well as the planet.”

The back-channel cooling facility and the overall reduced size of the new VLT Drive helps in reducing the scale of air-conditioning that is required for the room, leading to major savings in the up-front cost as well as operational expenses. 90% of the heat losses are exhausted directly outside the enclosure which dramatically reduces the temperature rise and reduces the contamination of the electronic components.

The drives can be utilized across industries such as Cement, Mining and minerals industry, Cranes & Hoists, Sugar, Paper, Chemical, Waste and wastewater management, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), Marine and offshore, refrigeration, food and beverages industry, lifts and escalators management, etc. which highlights the versatility of the product.

Danfoss India participated in the Annual Energy Efficiency Summit 2017 organized by CII where they actively promoted the importance of employing energy efficient technologies across industries and the need to work towards a sustainable future.

Speaking at the event, Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India said, “We are at a stage where energy efficiency needs to take the centerstage. Similar to how NABARD is for agriculture, we should create a bank for energy efficiency where we set an ambitious target of 25 GW energy saving by 2020. Furthermore, if a policy framework targeting MSMEs is introduced to get them into a PAT scheme that can aid them in streamlined lending, thereby fulfilling their energy needs. In short, we should look at how we can mature the escrow models in India in order to take advantage of building a larger market for energy efficiency in India”.
