India: India will participate in a three-day event starting April 11 in Dubai to showcase itself as an investment destination to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), its third-largest trading partner. The Dubai event will have a “Make in India” seminar and a “Make in India” pavilion as well, reports PTI.

The event will be held under the aegis of Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) from April 11 to 13.

The “Make in India” pavilion will be inaugurated jointly by Minister of State for Oil and Gas Dharmendra Pradhan along with Abdullah Al-Saleh, vice-minister for Foreign Trade and Industry in the UAE, the agency said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the UAE last August on a two-day official tour.

India’s participation at the AIM is expected to be big, according to Dawood Al Shezawi, president and CEO of the AIM, which will see representation from around 130 countries.

“India has decided to participate at the AIM at a large scale and represent the Make in India brands,” Al Shezawi said.

“Indian business community and its people working here in the UAE have really contributed towards the progress of this country over the years and for us it is very important to promote investment in India across various sectors,” he added.

Besides, a 25-member business delegation from industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) will also participate in the AIM.

India will seek investments in a range of sectors from the UAE.

“Many sectors such as real estate, medical tourism, insurance and smart cities are areas which need investment and these are also areas in which the UAE is very strong. So lots of initiatives are being taken precisely keeping these investors in mind,” PTI quoted India’s Consul General in Dubai Anurag Bhushan as saying.

India is Asia’s third-largest and the world’s fastest-growing economy.
