Hosts IvyCap Day 2017 with the greatest entrepreneurial minds in the business to celebrate its 6 Year Anniversary and commemorate the startup ecosystem

IvyCap Ventures, India’s largest homegrown domestic fund celebrated its Six year anniversary by hosting IvyCap Day 2017 in Mumbai, at Hotel Grand Hyatt on June 10th, to commemorate the start up ecosystem and its spirit of innovation.

The event was attended by over 300+ people who included the who’s who of the startup ecosystem – startup founders, prominent Indian and global venture capitalists, fund managers, mentors and academicians from Ivy League Indian institutes.

Speaking at the event were prominent individuals, such as the Former Home Secretary of India and Chairman of IvyCap Ventures, Mr. G.K. Pillai, corporate leaders such as Mr. Gautam Kumra, MD of McKinsey India, Mr. Pradeep Gupta, CMD CyberMedia and Chair of IvyCap Alumni Trust, investors from Trifecta Capital, Accel Partners, Gaja Capital, academicians from IIM Calcutta, IIT Mumbai, startup CEO’s – Ambareesh Murthy, Founder & CEO, Pepperfry, Mr. Sandeep Tandon, Co-founder, Freecharge, leading LP’s and officials such as Bindu Dey, Secretary, Technology Development Board, Government of India and Satya Narayan Bansal, CEO, Barclays India, among others. Through various sessions, the speakers addressed  burning issues in the Indian startup ecosystem that included, Scaling up a start up, New Investment Opportunities, Emergence of LP Ecosystem in India and Leveraging the IIT/IIM Ecosystem for Startups in India.

Highlight of the day were the presentations given by all of the IvyCap Ventures portfolio companies – RML Agtech, Aujas, FieldEZ, Vinculum, Eshakti, Leixir, Purplle, Sokrati, Clovia, BlueStone, FTCash and GrabonRent who shared details about  vision, current operations and future plans.

The event exhibited in full force the genesis and investment philosophy of IvyCap Ventures, which is the ‘network effect’ of IIT and IIM institutions and its alumni. IvyCap Ventures is built on the back of the vast network of IIT & IIM alumni across the world, an idea propounded by Vikram Gupta, Founder and CEO of IvyCap Ventures and himself an IIT alumnus. IvyCap’s Alumni Trust comprises of more than 200 alumni from IITs and IIMs and is the anchor investor of IvyCap Ventures. In addition, 5000+ high profile IITians globally have signed up to act as mentors to the companies that IvyCap invests in.

IvyCap launched its first fund of INR 240 crore in 2012. It launched its second fund with a target corpus of INR. 600 Cr. in October 2015 and  has already raised majority of the target corpus.
